Project Summary
Formula was hired by Altagas to complete multiple scopes on the Forrest Kerr Powerhouse project that was the first ever run-of-the-river powerhouse constructed underground and generates 195 MW of power.
Using a 160-ton overhead crane, this project consisted of the erection of crane steel, mezzanine steel and intake steel. Further to this installation included nine, 3.5-meter penstocks and nine draft tubes within the powerhouse. Each penstock being 47 meters long and weighing 110 thousand pounds, which had to be moved through the intake tunnel prior to placement.
