Project Summary

Formula completed two flood resistant bridges in 2022 under our limited partnership, Tŝilhqot’in Eten & Nadiltil (TEN), in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. The TEN company was formed in 2018 between Formula Contractors and Dandzen Development LP which is the economic development branch for the Tŝilhqot’in National Government who represent the six Tshilqot’in Indian Bands consisting of: Tl’etinqox (Anaham), Tŝi Deldel (Redstone), Yuneŝit’in (Stone), Xeni Gwet’in (Nemiah), ʔEsdilagh (Alexandria) and Tl’esqox (Toosey).

Project Description

Under the direction of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, TEN was hired to construct the Cave Road and Knife Creek Road bridges to replace culverts which were washed out due to a high-water event in 2020. Both single lane, clear span bridges were completed within 3-months with zero safety incidents. Crews overcame numerous challenges on these projects, including a work stoppage due to the need to assist with the provincial flood relief of 2021. Working during the winter season to dam and pump the creek to complete in-stream works, was challenging on both infrastructure projects. As well as restricted working spaces as the construction took place adjacent to properties (Cave).

Both structures were design-build projects, constructed to withstand the increased flooding we have seen in the region. The TEN and Formula teams are proud we have been able to help keep our communities connected and look forward to building for the future under our partnership.
