Project Summary
Due to geotechnical requirements, the design of the Iskut River Bridge was changed. As such, the bridge approach required a 2:1 slope cut (from existing ground to a total depth of 25m) to the low chain side in order to meet a final maximum grade of the road prism, as well as permit a 90m flat launching zone for the new bridge. The total cut quantity of rock was 140,000m3. This project required a double shift to meet the condensed construction schedule of 20 days. The equipment used for this project included: four 30t rock trucks; 700, 345 and 300 size excavators; two air drills; and an explosives crew.
