Project Summary
This construction project involved design, supply, and installation of a multi-span 79.328m L100 Steel Girder/Concrete Composite Bridge on Steel Driven Pilings, 200m of road approach and the permitting, design, and construction of a nesting platform for the relocation of an Osprey’s nest. The structure was constructed on the downstream side of the existing McGregor Suspension Bridge, located as close as possible between the new bridge deck and the lateral support spurs of the existing structure. Formula used the new structure as a work platform during construction. In addition, the new structure is capable of being utilized as a work bridge during the demolition of the existing McGregor Suspension Bridge. Constraints to accomplish this included satisfying not only that the new structure was designed for L100 loading, but also capable of supporting a crane that can be used to facilitate demolition of the existing suspension bridge.
